The Irish author, John McGahern, has been shortlisted for this year's International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the world's richest prize for writers.His bestseller, 'That They May Face the Rising Sun', is one of eight books nominated for the award which will be made in Dublin Castle in May.
The other nominees are: Denis Bock for 'The Ash Garden', Achmat Dangor for 'Bitter Fruit', Per Olov Enquist for 'The Royal Physician's Visit', Jonathan Franzen for 'The Corrections', Lidia Jorge for 'The Painter of Birds', Orhan Pamuk for 'My Name is Red' and Ann Patchett for 'Bel Canto'.The books were shortlisted from 125 books nominated by 150 libraries in 40 countries.
