Director Brett Ratner has left the planned 'Superman' movie.
The 'Red Dragon' helmer said that the difficulty in casting the lead role had contributed to his decision.
The film has had a lengthy casting process with no actor yet attached to play the Man of Steel.
Among those stars who had been linked with the role were: Josh Hartnett, Brendan Fraser, Ashton Kutcher and Paul Walker.
Ratner will now direct 'Rush Hour 3'.
