British actress Dame Thora Hird died on Saturday, aged 91.
Hird suffered a stroke last weekend at the London retirement home where she lived
She spent the week in a nursing home with her daughter Janette at her bedside.
One of Britain's best-loved actresses, Hird was best known for her role as Edie Pegden in the long-running BBC series 'Last of the Summer Wine'.
Hird received Britain's OBE award in 1983 and became a received another royal honour to become a dame 10 years later.
