Stones fall foul of Chinese censor

The Rolling Stones, who are due to play two shows in China next month, have been told to drop some of their best known songs from the set-list.

The Chinese government will not allow the band to play 'Brown Sugar', 'Honky Tonk Woman', 'Beast of Burden' or 'Let's Spend the Night Together' because of their sexual content.

Tour organiser Chen Jixin, head of Beijing Time New Century Entertainment, said that the same four songs were also cut from the Chinese release of the band's '40 Licks' album.

The Stones are due to play Shanghai on 1 April and Beijing on 4 April.

These will be the band's first performances in China as they were refused permission to tour the country in the 1970s.

The European leg of the Licks tour will start in Germany on 4 June.
