Ricky Gervais has said he will not play David Brent in a pilot US version of hit TV show 'The Office'.
The UK comedian is to act as a script consultant and executive producer for the American remake, along with co-creator Stephen Merchant.
It has been reported that the show will retain the same title, with its office being located in Los Angeles.
Merchant and Gervais have been meeting with US producers and writers from shows like 'Malcolm in the Middle', 'King of the Hill' and 'Seinfeld'.
