Joe Carnahan, helmer of the acclaimed police drama 'Narc', is in final talks to direct the third instalment in the 'Mission: Impossible' series.
The Hollywood Reporter says that a 2004 release date is planned with Tom Cruise's company Cruise/Wagner co-producing.
Cruise acted as Executive Producer on 'Narc' and was instrumental in getting the film a full theatrical release.
