Eight Grammy awards for Norah Jones

Norah Jones swept the boards at the 45th Grammy Awards in New York last night, taking eight awards including Best New Artist and Record of the Year.

The 23-year-old chanteuse and her album, 'Come Away With Me', also won the Pop Vocal Album and Female Pop Performance prizes.

The track 'Don't Know Why' beat Bruce Springsteen's 'The Rising' to be named Song of the Year.

Jones, who won in every category in which she was nominated, equals Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys for the most wins by a female artist in a single night.

Springsteen did not go home empty-handed as he was awarded Best Rock Album, Male Rock Vocal and Rock Song for 'The Rising'.

Coldplay took Best Rock Performance by a Group for 'In My Place' and Best Alternative Album for 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'.

Other winners included Eminem, No Doubt, Foo Fighters and Nelly.
