Bob Geldof will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards which take place on Monday 3 March at the Point Theatre, Dublin.
The Irish musician was responsible for organising 1985's Live Aid benefit concert for Ethopia for which he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
He has since been involved in campaigning against third world debt.
A former Boomtown Rat, Geldof released his fourth solo album, 'Sex, Age and Death', in 2001.
He and his band will perform at the Meteor Award ceremony along with The Thrills, Alabama 3, Samantha Mumba and Westlife.
