Michael Jackson has said he's devastated and feels utterly betrayed by the documentary on his life broadcast earlier this week.
The reclusive singer has been widely criticised following the programme, in which he revealed that he still shares his bedroom with children.
He said he regards the documentary as a gross distortion of the truth and a tawdry attempt to misrepresent his life and his abilities as a father.
In a statement, he said Granada Television broke the trust he placed in them, particularly in relation to assurances that his children would not be featured in programme.
He said the documentary was deceptive and that he said would never harm a child.
The singer's ex-wife Debbie Roe has spoken out in his defence, saying Jackson is a good father.
