Billy Joel was released from a New York hospital yesterday morning after a car crash on Saturday night.
The US singer lost control of his Mercedes on a Long Island freeway, swerved across the road and ended up smashing into a tree.
Joel was pulled from the vehicle by firefighters who were called to the scene and airlifted to hospital.
The 53-year old was released early the following morning.
Joel, whose hits include 'Uptown Girl' and 'Piano Man' is due to start a three-month US tour in Birmingham, Alabama, on 21 February.
