Aguilera reveals childhood violence

Pop singer Christina Aguilera has told how she was beaten by her father when she was a child.

The 22-year-old told an American magazine how her father, US Army sergeant Fausto Aguilera, hit her and her mother when they lived in Japan.

Her mother, Shelly Kearns, left her father when Aguilera was five and they returned to the US to stay with family in Pittsburgh.

Aguilera said that she still suffers from panic attacks as a result of the abuse she suffered as a child.

The singer writes about domestic violence in a song called 'OK' which features on her new album 'Stripped'.
