Elvis's hits album has record sales

Elvis Presley's greatest hits collection has become his biggest selling album on the eve of what would have been his 68th birthday.

Last night, record label BMG said the album, 'Elvis: 30 No 1 Hits', has now sold more than nine million copies around the world.

This beat his Christmas release, 'The Elvis Christmas Album' - first issued in 1957 and re-released in 1973 - which has still not topped the eight million level.

BMG said it has been a phenomenal year for Elvis Presley proving that his music is indeed timeless.

2002 marked the 25th anniversary of Presley's death and saw him notch up a posthumous number one with 'A Little Less Conversation'.
