Two Towers tops Irish box office

The second Lord of the Rings film has topped the Irish and UK box office chart, and is also number one in the US.

'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' took €13.3m in Ireland and the UK in its first three days of release and just over €60m across North America between Friday and Sunday.

'Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets' is at number two on the Irish box office chart, with total takings in the UK and Ireland of €71m to date.

Pierce Brosnan's latest James Bond outing, 'Die Another Day' is third, followed by Tim Allen's comedy 'Santa Clause 2'.

Reese Witherspoon's new release, 'Sweet Home Alabama', entered the chart at number five.
