Mel Gibson is to return as warrior of the wasteland Mad Max in a fourth instalment of the adventure series.
Variety reports the new film, entitled 'Fury Road', will begin shooting in Australia next May.
George Miller, who directed the first three 'Mad Max' films, will also helm the new movie and has been working on the script for three years.
The second film in the series, 'The Road Warrior', marked Gibson's movie breakthrough and Variety reports that he is set to earn almost $25m for 'Fury Road'.
