Singer Whitney Houston has acknowledged she has in the past abused drugs and alcohol.
In a TV interview to be broadcast in the US tonight, the 39-year-old says: "you get to the point where the party's over."
She adds that her faith has seen her through difficult periods in her life.
Houston also denies rumours that she is suffering from an eating disorder.
The wide-ranging interview, in which she also discusses her marriage to singer Bobby Brown, comes ahead of the release of 'Just Whitney...', Houston's first album in four years.
