Eminem's movie debut '8 Mile' has shot to the top of the US box office, taking $54.5m in its first three days.
This is the second highest opening by an R-rated film in US cinema history - the $58m 'Hannibal' holds the record.
'8 Mile' is directed by 'LA Confidential' helmer Curtis Hanson and tells the story of a young rapper with dreams of making it big.
Eminem is due in London later this week where the movie will premiere as part of the London Film Festival.
The soundtrack to the film, also called '8 Mile' is also a number one hit, this time on the US album chart, with sales of over 702,000 copies.
'8 Mile', the film, reaches Irish screens on 17 January 2003.
