DJ Jam Master Jay, a member of the groundbreaking rap trio, Run DMC, has been shot dead in a recording studio in New York.
Another man was shot and wounded.
Credited with being the first rap artists to cross into the mainstream, Run-DMC were the first hip-hop group to achieve a platinum album.
Their hits include 'Walk This Way' and 'It's Like That'.
Jam Master Jay was 37.
