The legendary Nina Simone will play the intimate Dublin venue, Vicar Street, on 4 November.
Born in North Carolina in 1933, Simone was a talented musician from an early age and studied piano at the Julliard School of Music in New York.
She began her recording career in the late '50s and her version of George Gershwin's 'I Loves You Porgy' was a Top Twenty hit.
Like many African-American entertainers during the mid-1960s, Simone was heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement, addressing concerns of the time in songs such as 'Mississippi Goddam' and 'Young, Gifted & Black'.
Simone is also known as a gifted interpreter of other people's music including the tracks 'My Baby Just Cares For Me', 'I Put A Spell On You' and 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free'.
Tickets, priced €75, are available from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
