Barrymore autobiography on hold

The BBC has said it is putting presenter Michael Barrymore's autobiography on hold.

One chapter of 'Running Away From Myself' is understood to outline what happened the night Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the star's pool.

Barrymore is facing perjury allegations over the inquest into Lubbock's death, after his ex-wife Cheryl said he had lied to the inquest when he said he could not swim. She also said she had regularly seen Barrymore administer drugs to others.

The entertainer denies all allegations of lying to the inquest.

A post-mortem examination revealed high levels of alcohol and drugs in Lubbock's system and injuries, which may have been caused by a serious sexual assault. The inquest recorded an open verdict.

Following criticism from Lubbock's family the BBC confirmed it had "postponed indefinitely" plans to publish Barrymore's book. It had been due for release in October.
