One of the first stars of Brookside, actress Katrin Cartlidge, has died at the age of 41.
Cartlidge played the part of Lucy Collins in the TV soap for six years from 1982.
More recently, she starred in the films 'From Hell' with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham and the 2002 Best Foreign Film Oscar-winner 'No Man's Land'.
One of director Mike Leigh's favourite actresses, she starred in his films 'Career Girls', 'Naked' and 'Topsy Turvy'.
Cartlidge is understood to have died over the weekend from complications arising from pneumonia and septicaemia.
