Sally Field is to return to medical drama ER this autumn to reprise the role that earned her an Emmy Award.
The actress will appear in a four episodes as Maggie - the mother of Maura Tierney's character Abby Lockhart.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Everett Scott has also signed up to play Abby's brother in a number of episodes of the popular TV show.
