'The Lord of the Rings' has been voted the best film soundtrack ever in a new survey by radio station Classic FM.
The Howard Shore composed score saw off competition from the likes of 'Gone With the Wind', 'ET', 'Out of Africa' and 'Gladiator' to take the top spot.
The soundtracks to 'Star Wars' and 'Schindler's List' were in second and third place respectively.
Shore is currently working on the music to the second part of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, 'The Two Towers'; the movie is due out at Christmas.
