The publishers Bloomsbury have secured the rights to actor John Thaw's biography.
Thaw's wife Sheila Hancock will write the book, which is set to appear in bookshops in 2004.
The star of television's 'Inspector Morse' show died in February of this year at the age of 60.
He played the part of Morse for 13 years, although is breakthrough role was as a tough policeman in cult seventies show 'The Sweeney'.
