Irish music manager Louis Walsh is to join Pete Waterman and ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell in judging ITV's new 'Popstars' series.

'Popstars The Rivals' will result in the formation of a boy band and a girl band, both of which will go head to head for a number one UK single.

Ten boys and ten girls will share 'Big Brother' style houses with the public evicting one boy and one girl each week until the final line-ups are complete.

The twenty participants will be chosen by Walsh, Waterman and Halliwell from auditions in London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Big Brother's Davina McCall will present behind the scenes footage from the show, which is due to hit television screens this autumn.
