The latest Austin Powers film has broken box office records in the US, with the highest takings for a comedy in its opening weekend.
'Austin Powers In Goldmember' took $71.5 million during its first weekend in American cinemas.
Mike Myers' third Powers outing has now become the fifth highest opening film in the US. 'Spider-Man' tops the list with takings of $114.8 million in its opening weekend.
'…Goldmember' knocked 'The Road to Perdition', starring Tom Hanks, into second place. 'Stuart Little 2' is third.
