The Sopranos on the big screen?

The US network HBO and producers from 'The Sopranos' are in talks to create a big screen version of the hit mob show.

The show, which stars James Gandolfini as Mafia patriarch Tony Soprano, will begin its fourth season later this year.

Creator David Chase has indicated that he intends to leave 'The Sopranos' after its fifth season and Gandolfini and other stars including Edie Falco, who won an Emmy Award in 2001 for her role in the series, have said that they will not continue making the series when Chase leaves.

Chase has expressed interest in a big screen version of the show but no details have been finalised yet.
