A schizophrenic man who was detained at a secure hospital after an attack on the late Beatle George Harrison in 1999 has been released.
Abram apologised for the attack, saying he was very ill at the time and "really not in control".
He stabbed Harrison repeatedly after breaking into his Henley-on-Thames mansion in December 1999.
Cleared of attempted murder on the grounds of insanity, Abram was ordered to be detained at a secure hospital "without time restriction" in November 2000.
A tribunal on Thursday found that he had responded well to treatment and was fit to be released after 19 months at a Merseyside clinic.
Harrison's family have described Abram's discharge as "upsetting and insulting". His widow Olivia and son Dhani said the attack had robbed Harrison of the vital energy he needed to maintain his health.
George Harrison died of cancer last November.
