Bono has called on French President Jacques Chirac to be "a champion for Africa" when he meets other world leaders at next week's G8 talks.
Speaking after his meeting with the French leader at the Elysée Palace, Bono said that Mr Chirac had a passion for Africa and that he wanted to turn the President's passion into cash.
The G8 leaders will discuss a new plan for Africa at next week's summit in Canada.
