Director Ingmar Bergman is to donate photographs, manuscripts and raw footage from his films to a foundation which is to be established in his honour.
A spokesperson for the Swedish Film Institute said that the material would be a "huge resource" for researchers.
Further details of the foundation, which will be set up by arts and media organisations, are to be announced next week.
