Royal concert breaks 1m mark

More than a million people turned out in central London last night to attend a rock concert entitled 'Party at the Palace' to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee.

On a stage set up in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, a who's who of performers entertained 12,000 guests inside and the masses outside.

Queen guitarist Brian May kicked off the concert by playing the British National Anthem from the roof.

His performance was followed by sets in the palace grounds by Ricky Martin, Mis-teeq, S Club 7, Brian Wilson, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and the Corrs.

Scotland Yard praised crowds as very well behaved.
