Thirty-three years after he dropped out of college, Steven Spielberg was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree in film and electronic arts.
Spielberg, now 55, enrolled in California State University in 1965 but left three years later without finishing his course.
The Oscar-winning director re-enrolled last year and completed the degree course by writing term papers, meeting with professors and through independent study.
When he rose to receive his degree, the orchestra played the theme tune from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
His wife, the actress Kate Capshaw, and his parents were present at the ceremony.
