EastEnders too violent pre-watershed

Scenes of Little Mo being attacked by her abusive husband in the TV soap 'EastEnders' have been criticised by a UK TV watchdog.

The episode, screened last year, included a scene where Little Mo smashed Trevor with an iron and were deemed to have gone too far before the watershed.

The TV Watchdog said the graphic scenes should not have been shown before 9pm, but they stressed that the plotline itself was not off limits.

Mo's torment has been a central plotline on the show and has since led to the character, who is played by Kacey Ainsworth, being jailed for attempted murder.
