Neil Hannon has said he will continue to use the name of his former band, The Divine Comedy, for his solo output following last year's split.
Hannon said he had had intended to start with "a clean slate" after the break-up but decided to keep the name after he realised how much it meant to the fans.
The Derry singer/songwriter said, "To cut a very long story short, I’m keeping the name. Besides, Neil Hannon is a sucky name for a pop-star."
Hannon is working on a new album due for release in 2003. He plays the Galway Arts Festival this July and a gig with Ben Folds at Dublin's Ambassador Theatre on 26 September.
