Bono begins trip to Africa

U2's Bono and America's Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill, have arrived in Ghana as part of a four-nation Africa tour, aimed at reversing poor performance in development aid.

The two are due to hold talks with Ghana's president before going on to South Africa, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

O'Neill said Bono would help attract media attention due to his status as an international rock star, but he stressed that he didn't intend to turn the trip into a "circus" by giving out new aid money, staying at fancy hotels, and not seeing "the real world."
