EastEnders tops Soap Awards again

'EastEnders' has won ten of the sixteen awards up for grabs at this year's British Soap Awards in London.

The BBC 1 show won the top prize of best British soap as well as Best Actor for Martin Kemp (nightclub owner Steve Owen) and Best Actress for Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo).

Alex Ferns (Trevor Morgan) won Best Newcomer and Best Villian, while the Sexiest Female prize went to Jessie Wallace (Kat).

'EastEnders' creator Tony Holland took a special achievement award, while the soap also won Best Single Episode. This is the third year in a row that the show has swept the boards at the ceremony.

The Most Spectacular Prize went to Channel 4's 'Hollyoaks', for Adam and Mandy's car crash; Raymond Quinn took Best Dramatic Performance for his role in 'Brookside', which also won Best Storyline for its bullying plot. Hero of the year went to Stuart Manning of 'Night and Day'.

Best Exit went to 'Emmerdale' for the death of Batley the dog.

EastEnders' main rival, ITV 1's 'Coronation Street', took only one award - Best Comedy Performance for Malcolm Hebden, who plays Norris Cole.
