Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is to take on the role of American poet Sylvia Plath in a new film.
The BBC Films production will focus on the turbulent - and tragic - love affair between Plath and her husband, the late poet laureate Ted Hughes.
The film will be the first cinematic portrayal of the relationship, which ended with Plath's suicide in 1963.
Head of BBC Films, David Thompson, described Oscar winner Paltrow as "perfect" for the part.
Paltrow won an Oscar for her role in 'Shakespeare in Love' and is currently starring on stage in the London West End production of 'Proof'.
