'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' has made history in the UK with sales of the video and DVD.
Distributors of the film say it has overtaken the previous sales record set by 'Titanic'.
DVD sales of have reached over 1.25 million on Saturday, the day of its release, easily eclipsing the 1.1 million sold by 'Titanic'.
"We are delighted. The demand for this video has been unprecedented and the results have exceeded all our expectations," said managing director of Warner Home Video, Neil McEwan.
The fifth book of the Harry Potter franchise is expected to be out next year.
