Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes, a member of the American R'n'B group TLC, has been killed in a car crash in Honduras.

The 31-year-old singer was on holiday in Central America when the accident happened. Lopes was reportedly the only fatality out of the seven occupants of the vehicle.

TLC are best known for their chart-topping hits 'No Scrubs', 'Waterfalls' and 'Unpretty'. Their 1999 album 'FanMail' spent five weeks at the top of the US pop album charts and won a Grammy award for best R'n'B album in 2000.

Arista Records president L A Reid, who helped to launch TLC's career said, "No words can possibly express the sorrow and sadness I feel for this most devastating loss. Lisa was a gifted and talented musical inspiration."

The other members of TLC are Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas and Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins.
