Oscar-nominated actors Nicole Kidman and Jude Law are set to join the cast of 'Cold Mountain', a Civil War drama based on a novel by Charles Frazier.
Director Anthony Minghella says his priority is to cast the lead role after Tom Cruise turned down the part.
It is now hoped that Law will play Inman, a wounded soldier attempting to journey home after the war.
Kidman is expected to take the part of Ada, the minister's daughter Inman left behind when he enlisted.
'Bridget Jones' Diary' star Renee Zellweger is also tipped for a role in the film.
