According to reports, Irish Popstars group Six may have to change their name prior to their UK launch.

The change has been requested by Simon Cowell, head of BMG UK, because the current name is believed to be too unoriginal.

The band may also have to use a different debut single for the UK market, as current Irish number one 'A Whole Lot Of Lovin' Going On', sounds too Steps-like.

Louis Walsh's hit boyband Westlife had to change their name from Westside prior to their UK launch after it was discovered that a US R'N'B group already had the name.

Kyle Anderson, Sarah Keating, Liam McKenna, Sinead Sheppard, Emma O'Driscoll and Andy Orr were picked to form the band through their participation in the RTÉ Popstars programme.
