Irish author Michael Collins has been nominated for this year's International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
US-based Collins’ book, ‘The Keepers of the Truth’, is one of seven novels short-listed for the €100,000 prize.
The other nominees are ‘True History of the Kelly Gang’ by Peter Carey; ‘The Blind Assassin’ by Margaret Atwood; ‘The Last Samurai’ by Helen De Witt; ‘The Years with Laura Diaz’ by Carlos Fuentes; ‘Atomised’ by Irish-based author Michael Houellebecq and ‘Madame’ by Antoni Libera.
‘The Keepers of the Truth’ was nominated for the Booker Prize in 2000, but was beaten by Atwood's book. Carey's 'True History of the Kelly Gang' won the Booker Prize last year.
The IMPAC short-list was chosen by an international panel of writers which included Irish novelist Jennifer Johnston.
The winner of the prize will be announced in Dublin Castle on May 13, with a prize-giving ceremony taking place on June 15 in the same venue.
