Enya beats Britney at World Music Awards

Ireland's Enya beat US pop princess Britney Spears and UK singer/songwriter Dido to wing this year's Best-Selling Female Artist prize at the World Music Awards.

Enya, who has sold over 44 million albums worldwide, also won Best-Selling Irish and Best-Selling New Age artist at the event in Monaco, including .

Dido won the World's Best-Selling Pop Female Artist as well as Best-Selling British Artist and Adult Contemporary awards. Destiny's Child also took home three prizes.

Shaggy beat Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson to the World's Best-Selling Male Artist prize.

Enrique Iglesias won World's Best-Selling Pop Male Artist and Best-Selling Male Latin Star.

Alicia Keys picked up the Best-Selling R'n'B award, Ja Rule won Best-Selling Rap Artist while Andrea Bocelli was voted Best Selling Classical Artist.

Kylie Minogue won Best Selling Australian Artist; Alizee was the best-seller for France, Kristina Orbakaite for Russia, No Angels for Germany, DJ Bobo for Switzerland, Nicholas Tse for China.

Gloria Gaynor was presented with the Legend Award by Prince Albert of Monaco, the event's patron.
