U2 emerged as the big winners at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards which were held in Dublin's Point Depot last night.
The band took home eight awards including the prize for Best Video for Elevation, Best Rock Album ('All That You Can't Leave Behind'), Best Rock Single for 'Walk On' and Best Live Performance.
Westlife got three awards for Best Pop Act, Best Pop Album and they also won Best Pop Single for 'Uptown Girl'. Also in the pop category, their mentor and former member of Boyzone, Ronan Keating, won Best Irish Solo Male.
Samantha Mumba was the Best Irish Female Artist while 2FM's Mark McCabe won the award for Best Irish Dance DJ, and Daniel O'Donnell picked up the title of Best Irish Country Artist.
The Rev's were voted Best Newcomers in a category that was decided by 2FM listeners. Newcomer David Kitt was voted best solo Irish Male in the rock category.
Enrique Inglesias wooed the female fans at the Point Depot but he lost out to Robbie Williams in the Best International Male Category.
The awards helped to raise €100,000 for the Christina Noble Institute which helps provide medical and educational programs for the poor in Vietnam and Mongolia.
