Irish popstars band Six will face competition from girlband Bellefire in the Hope For 2002/Best Newcomer Award at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards, incorporating the IRMAs.
The other nominees in the category are Reel, Damien Rice, Lynn Ryan and the Revs.
Voting for this category only will take place on 2FM's Tony Fenton Show next week when listeners will be able to vote via the 2FM website.
Last year's Best Newcomer award went to Northern Ireland band Relish.
The awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Patrick Kielty, will take place in the Point Theatre, Dublin on Monday 4 March with performances from Enrique Inglesias, Gabrielle, Ronan Keating, Samantha Mumba, Lighthouse Family, The Cranberries, Muse, Six and Westlife.
The show will be broadcast on RTE Network 2 on Wednesday 6 March at 9pm.
