Jurors in an LA court have ruled in favour of the singer who sued James Brown for wrongful dismissal, but cleared the soul legend of sexual harassment charges.
Lisa Agbalaya-Ross worked at the California office of The New James Brown Enterprises from 1992 to 1999.
She had claimed $2m for wrongful termination and sexual harassment, alleging that 68-year-old Brown sacked her following her rejection of his numerous advances.
After the ruling, Agbalaya-Ross held her ground, saying, "I know what James Brown did and he knows what he did - and that's what's important."
Damages are to be decided this week but Brown plans to appeal the decision that the company was wrong to sack Agbalaya-Ross.
