Travis frontman Fran Healy has attacked the Pop Idol programme, calling it "a celebration of the mediocre".
The Scottish singer warned the contestants that they were in for a rude awakening.
Although Healy wished the finalists good luck, he condemned the show for being "all about fat, greedy men making more money".
