The Brit Awards have banned US reggae artist Shaggy from using an elephant at this year’s awards ceremony.
Shaggy is due to perform a duet with Ali G at the ceremony on February 20 and he had planned to enter Earl’s Court on the elephant.
However, health and safety officers at the London venue have scuppered the plans, saying the ceremony’s special affects will frighten the animal.
Apart from Shaggy, other artists who will perform on the night include Kylie Minogue, Sting, The Strokes and Mis-teeq.
Irish boyband Westlife have been nominated in the Best Pop Act category for the Awards.
