Tom Cruise's production company has bought the rights to the 'Lost Regiment' series of science fiction books.
The eight novels by author William Forstchen follow a civil war regiment who travel through time to a harsh world in the future.
Cruise recently starred in and produced the film 'Vanilla Sky' with business partner Paula Wagner.
According to the report in US paper Variety, author Forstchen is also in talks to turn the books into video games.
