Blur are in the studio this week working on music which will be used on a Mars-bound spacecraft.
The programmed piece will be on the British ship Beagle 2, which is set to touch down on the planet next year.
The composition will act as a signal that will be transmitted back to earth from Beagle 2.
The band contacted the scientist behind the project who was delighted to have the band involved as he felt their presence would raise the profile of the project.
