Lawyers for Mariah Carey are threatening legal action against her former record company, EMI.
The move is over EMI's use of the word "terminated" instead of the agreed word, "cancelled", in its announcement to the London Stock Exchange.
Carey was bought out of her multimillion-dollar deal by EMI's Virgin Records after her latest album, 'Glitter', flopped.
The singer's lawyer are also questioning EMI's payout to Carey; EMI said it was $28m, but her lawyers argue that this does not take into account the $21m Carey kept for making the failed 'Glitter' album, thus minimising the losses suffered by EMI.
EMI have threatened to counter-sue if Carey's lawyers go ahead with court action.
